This was the standard knife bayonet issued and used by the Germans ins WWI and WWII. Manufacture originally began in 1898 - the new era of the 1898 German Mauser - and continued in evolutionary stages through World War 2.
The 1st Pattern 84/98 was converted from Model 71/84 bayonets; the 2nd Pattern had wood grips, bright blades, and most had flash-guards. This pattern is on first-glance identical to the 3rd Pattern.
