MODELL 47

Very interesting, possibly very early variant of Modell 47. Ivie's book does not know this variant, nor have I ever seem another. Handle is red, not black, but has standard East German serial serial no. engraved to the guard.

Bayonet has no russian markings, and is better made than bulgarian AK-47's. Pommel and guard have typical EG glossy finish. Best guess is that it was assembled fron russian parts.

Scabbard is Variant A (Ivie p.14), but has visible spot welding marks, which not common  in EG scabbards.

Standard East German Modell 47 bayonet with typical black handle and grey nylon frog. Scabbard is Variant B (Ivie p.14)

Standard East German Modell 47 bayonet with typical black handle and grey nylon frog. Scabbard is Variant C (Ivie p.14)
